A group of students from Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey, visited the Legion of Good Will to give their support to the organization’s Charity Round program, in a demonstration of cooperative and solidary attitude.
It all began with an idea to help alleviate the suffering of the homeless in the city of Newark. By selling candies throughout their school and community for the past weeks, they were able to raise funds to purchase hundreds of food items, utensils and water bottles. They also researched about the most effective program and organization in place that is active within the local community. This is when they found the Legion of Good Will and its Charity Round program.

Around 25 students delivered the donations and had the chance to visit the LGW’s Community Center. While on the premises, they learned more about the organization and its 61 years of dedication to assist vulnerable societies throughout the world. Many of the students also registered as volunteers for the weekly Charity Round. They were impressed with the way the organization encourages its volunteers to go above and beyond: always offering a word of hope and comfort in addition to the array of services provided. According to the school staff, the visit was also a lesson about goodwill and solidarity in practice.
