For 62 years, the Legion of Good Will (LGW) has been developing socio-educational programs on a daily basis to help families living in a situation of poverty. The services rendered stand out for their quality and for giving emphasis to Education, helping people to rebuild their lives. Thanks to these actions, for example, many citizens manage to get into the job market. In this way, the Organization improves the self-esteem of thousands of Brazilians living on a low income.
And to crown the socio-educational programs and the professional training courses offered every year the Legion of Good Will conducts the traditional campaign LGW’s Permanent Christmas – Jesus, Our daily Bread! with the solidary support from volunteers and contributors. This initiative was launched in the early days of the Organization with the distribution of the popular Soup for the Poor—also known as the Zarur’s Soup—in the 1940’s, in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
By distributing the non-perishable food baskets, this campaign complements the assistance given to thousands of low income families that were assisted in several programs developed by the Legion of Good Will during the entire year. With this action, the Organization provides them a happy and decent Christmastime without hunger.
