LGW - The Organization that Never Sleeps The spirit of cooperation and incentive to the spontaneous feeling of Love towards one another are the foundations that guide the work of the Legion of Good Will (Legião da Boa Vontade). For decades, theorganization creates and carries on socioeducational programs in several parts of the world, specifically in less developed countries, promoting the betterment in the quality of life of populations at social and personal risk.
It runs schools of basic education, from nursery to high school; homes for children,adolescents and senior citizens; Community and Educational Centers, with several courses of job training and social protection; emergency programs to fight hunger and misery; socioeducational campaigns that dignify life. This work with no borders is held in the United States, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Portugal and Brazil, where everything started, in 1950. In the United States, the LGW had its official start on October 30, 1986, when it received from the New York Department of State, the approval and the registration of the certificate of incorporation. With the help of the North American population, it has helped each year more and more people, through its programs of social Solidarity. In 1999, the organization was recognized by the United Nations (UN) with the maximum status at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), where it has acted as an international partner ever since.
