Charity Round Print E-mail

One of the most traditional social and educational programs of the Legion of Good Will (LGW), the Charity Round, started in the end of the 1940’s, in Brazil, when the LGW’s founder, Alziro Zarur (1914-1979), in the Permanent Campaign against poverty and social exclusion, began the distribution of the "Soup of the Poor” ― also known as "Zarur’s Soup” ― so that the immediate aid could be offered to millions of low income people. José de Paiva Netto, the LGW’s President, participated of this pioneer activity. Since then, it became a permanent activity against misery and social exclusion.

Multiplying actions

The importance of the Charity Round can be verified through the reach of its humanitarian work, forming the bases of all the social and educational activities developed by the LGW. Besides this, it originated all over Brazil, through the power of Solidarity, the creation of schools of basic education; Homes for children, teenagers and the elderly; Community and Educational Centers; and awareness and social mobilization campaigns.

Help the Legion of Good Will to help those in need! All the work carried out by the Legion of Good Will is accomplished thanks to the financial or volunteer help of Brazilians and foreigners alike. You can also be a part of this movement. Join the Good Will team!
